New Year. New Bulletproof Me.
2020 has had its fair share of challenges, but we’ve made it through. The start of a new year is like a refresh button for many, bringing on new intentions, new goals, and new habits. My suggestion when making your resolutions is to be specific, realistic, and relevant. Be clear about what you want to accomplish, and break that down into achievable steps. If your resolutions are too vague or too big, it’ll leave you frustrated and feeling defeated. With that being said, take a look at my top three resolutions for 2021.
Meditation and silence.
For someone like myself who is always on, I need to spend more time in stillness. Headspace is my favorite meditation app as it helps calm all the chatter in my head. It also has theme-based meditations depending on what you need, such as focus, calmness, or even curbing cravings. My goal for this year is to get into a consistent routine where I meditate every evening.
Upping my Jiu Jitsu.
I work so much that sometimes my Jiu Jitsu training takes a back seat. In 2021, I really want to focus on my technique and skill. Consistency is key to making significant improvements, so I’m going to make this a priority. I go to Renzo Gracie Academy in Queens because I love the camaraderie, but there are many great schools out there. Do your homework and find an environment where you can learn and thrive.
Handwritten Notes Cards.
In a time where our communication has come down to a quick text, emojis, and email - a personal element has been lost, even more so now with the pandemic. This year, I’m bringing back the handwritten note cards. A handwritten note says I took the time to write this for you in my own writing because that is how much I value you. I actually learned this from President George H. W. Bush who was known for handwriting cards and sending them to people. It made such an impact on them.
